IC 1588 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 734 million light years from the Milky Way and about 155,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 276 , IC 1587 , IC 1599 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on November 3, 1898 .
