NGC 276 = IC 1591 is a barred spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBb in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 628 million light years from the Milky Way and about 185,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered in 1886 by the American astronomer Frank Muller .
