IC 1583 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 331 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 50,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies IC 1585 and IC 1586 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 23, 1897 .
