IC 1563 (also NGC 191A ) is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / P in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 277 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly. Together with NGC 191 , it forms an interacting pair that is recorded under the names Arp 127 and Holm 13 .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of elliptical galaxies close to spiral galaxies and disturbing them (Arp catalog) . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 195 and IC 1556 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2006ej was observed here.

The object was discovered on December 16, 1897 by the astronomer Guillaume Bigourdan .
