NGC 7609 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0? in the constellation Pegasus in the northern sky , which is estimated to be 537 million light years away from the Milky Way and interacts with the galaxy PGC 71077 ( Arp 150 ). Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies with jets (Arp catalog) .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on October 5, 1864 .
