NGC 7589 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic , which is classified as the Seyfert 1 galaxy , a special type of very bright galaxies that belong to the group of active galaxy nuclei (AGN). It is estimated to be 405 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter . In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 7603 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2011hv was observed here.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on October 23, 1864 .
