IC 1587 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 759 million light years from the Milky Way and about 315,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1582 and IC 1588 .

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on November 3, 1898 .
