IC 1587 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 759 million light years from the Milky Way and about 315,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 1582 and IC 1588 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on November 3, 1898 .
