NGC 287 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic. It is estimated to be 253 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxy NGC 266 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on November 22, 1827 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
