NGC 288 is a globular cluster in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It has an angular extent of 13 ′ and an apparent magnitude of 9.37 mag. Its distance from the sun is about 30,000 light years, its diameter about 120 light years.

The object was discovered on October 27, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
