NGC 304 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type S / P in the constellation Andromeda the northern sky . It is an estimated 229 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light-years across.
The galaxy NGC 280 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 23, 1878 by the French astronomer Édouard Stephan .
