NGC 260 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type Sc / P in the constellation Andromeda the northern sky . It is estimated to be 240 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is a member of the NGC 252 group, or LGG 12 .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 252 , NGC 258 , IC 1584 .

The object was discovered on August 27, 1865 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
