NGC 240 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 552 million light years from the Milky Way and about 195,000 ly in diameter.

The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on October 22, 1886 .
