NGC 220 denotes an open star cluster in the constellation Toucan . It is located on the western edge of the Small Magellanic Cloud when viewed from Earth and is part of a chain of three open star clusters in this region.
The open star cluster NGC 220 was discovered on August 12, 1834 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
