NGC 215 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Phoenix the southern sky . It is estimated to be 364 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 212 .
The object was discovered on October 28, 1834 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
