NGC 198 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type Sc in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 240 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter. Together with three other galaxies, it forms the NGC 198 group ( LGG 9 ).
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 182 , NGC 194 , NGC 200 , NGC 208 .

The object was discovered on December 25, 1790 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
