NGC 180 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 241 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 135,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 34 .
The type IIP supernova SN 2001dj was observed here.
The object was discovered on December 29, 1790 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
