NGC 185 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy with an active core in the Local Group and is an estimated 2.3 million light years from the Milky Way . It is a companion galaxy to the Andromeda Nebula and, together with NGC 147, forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on November 30, 1787 .
