NGC 184 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 244 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across.
The galaxies NGC 181 and NGC 183 lie in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 6, 1883 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan .
