NGC 186 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 + in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 213 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 193 , NGC 194 , NGC 199 , NGC 204 .
The object was discovered on September 23, 1862 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Ludwig d'Arrest .
