NGC 7243 is an open cluster of Trumpler type IV2p in the constellation Lizard on the northern sky . It has a diameter of 21 'and an apparent magnitude of +6.40 mag. The cluster is 2,600 light-years away, around 16 light-years in diameter, and just over 100 million years old.
The object was discovered on September 26, 1788 by William Herschel .
