NGC 559 is a type II2p open star cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia in the northern sky. It has an angular extension of 7.0 'and an apparent magnitude of +9.5 mag. The cluster is around 4,000 light years from the solar system.
The object was discovered on November 9, 1787 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
