NGC 568 = IC 1709 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SA0: in the constellation Sculptor in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 251 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of around 160,000 ly.
The object was discovered on November 29, 1837 by astronomer John Herschel and rediscovered on September 4, 1897 by Lewis A. Swift (IC 1709).
