NGC 566 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 248 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 571 .
The object was discovered on November 22, 1827 by the British John Herschel .
