NGC 7023 is the name of an open star cluster containing the Iris Nebula in the constellation Cepheus according to the nomenclature of the NGC catalog . NGC 7023 has an angular extent of 10 '× 8'. The Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula that is illuminated by a central star of apparent magnitude 7.1 mag.
The object was discovered by Sir William Herschel on October 18, 1794 .
