Per Collinder

Per Arne Collinder (born May 22, 1890 in Sundsvall , † December 6, 1974 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish astronomer .

Collinder worked at the Lund Observatory . With his dissertation from 1931 he published a fundamental work on the structure of open star clusters and their spatial distribution in the galaxy ( On the Structural Properties of Galactic Open Clusters and Their Spatial Distribution ). The work contains a list of 471 open star clusters known today as the Collinder Catalog . He has also published a volume on the history of nautical science and works on the history of astronomy in Sweden.

Collinder was married twice. He had four children with his first wife.
