NGC 7013 is a lens-shaped galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Swan in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 45 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered on July 17, 1784 by the astronomer William Herschel with his 18.7-inch reflector telescope and was later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
