NGC 6998 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E0? in the constellation microscope in the southern sky . It is around 534 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 100,000 light years . The object has been classified as a radio galaxy and is a member of the so-called NGC-6999 group .
The object was discovered on October 19, 1864 by Albert Marth .
