NGC 251 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 209 million light years from the Milky Way and about 145,000 light years across.
The object was discovered on October 15, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
