The Roman Catholic branch church Reyersdorf is located in the village of Reyersdorf in the municipality of Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Leonhard and belongs to the parish Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf in the deanery Gänserndorf in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

Location description

The church can be seen from afar. It is slightly elevated in the center of Reyersdorf south of the main road.

history

Reyersdorf was first mentioned in the parish inauguration deed of Weikendorf from 1115. The construction of the parish church in Reyersdorf began in 1353 and, according to the deed, was completed in 1354. The original parish was incorporated into Melk Abbey . From 1544 the church worked more closely with the parish of Schönkirchen due to a lack of income, and in 1744 the merger took place. The small church with a choir square was baroque changed in the 17th century . On January 1, 1994, the name was changed to “Parish Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf”.

The small church with a Gothic choir square has a medieval core. The nave is kept simple and has a steep gable roof . the choir square has moved in, the baroque end has been added. The segment arch windows are divided into pockets. The west tower is slim and was built in the Baroque style. The sound windows are large and the tower is crowned by a pointed helmet. In the north a simple baroque vestibule is attached to the nave. In front of the church there is a late baroque figure of St. Florian from the second half of the 18th century on a pedestal.

Church interior

The nave of the church has three bays and barrel vaults with stitch caps . In between are belt arches that rest on flat double pilasters . The three-part organ is arched with a groin . A narrow, round-arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the nave. The choir square has a groin vault . The lamb of Christ is depicted on the figural keystone . The two-part session and sacrament niche is Gothic. A passage to the sacristy was later built through the former straight end . This also forms the 3/6 end of the church in baroque forms. In the sacristy is a baroque stucco medallion.

Furnishing

The furnishings are uniformly neo-Gothic and come from the second half of the 19th century. The high altar consists of a three-figure shrine. In the middle there is a figure of St. Leonhard. This is flanked by figures of Saints Peter and Paul . The side altars also have figural niches. On the right side altar is a figure of Our Lady , on the right a figure of St. Joseph . The pulpit is decorated with figures of the four evangelists on the basket. Baroque pictures show Saint Leonhard and Maria with the child. Both were painted in the second half of the 18th century.

The organ was made by Rudolf Novak in 1956 .

Peal

The two bells were cast in 1949 after the old church bells had to be donated as war supplies.
