Rei Matsumoto ( Japanese 松本 怜 ; born February 25, 1988 in Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

Rei Matsumoto learned to play soccer on the school team at Aomori Yamada High School and on the university team at Waseda University . He signed his first contract in 2010 with Yokohama F. Marinos . The club from Yokohama played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . The 2013 and 2014 season he was loaned to Ōita Trinita from Ōita . In 2013 the club played in the first division. At the end of the 2013 season he had to make his way to the second division. After the loan ended, he was signed by Ōita in 2015. At the end of 2015, he had to start his way into the third division with the club. In 2016 he became champion of the J3 League with Ōita and rose straight back to the second division. The club finished the 2018 season as runner-up and was promoted to the first division .
