Reichsbank building (Eisenach)
The former Reichsbank building is a listed commercial building at Karl-Marx- Strasse 53 in Eisenach in Thuringia .
history
The building was erected in 1905 on the corner of Clemdastraße / Wörthstraße (today: Karl-Marx-Straße) in the north of the city center of Eisenach as a branch of the Reichsbank and was used as such until after 1945. After that, the district leadership of the SED of the Eisenach district was located in the building . In the 1990s, the commercial building was used by an insurance company and the PDS for a while . At the moment (2014) it is empty and left to decay. Inside, remains of the Reichsbank vaults and large parts of the interior furnishings from the time of the SED district leadership have been preserved in their original state.
