Reichsbruderrat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Reichsbruderrat was the conducting body of the Confessing Church in the era of National Socialism . Each regional church (or church province of the Church of the Old Prussian Union ) sent a representative, who was appointed by the regional church leadership in the intact churches, and by the regional brother council in the destroyed churches . This built on appropriate bodies down to the fraternal councils of the communities.

After the end of the Second World War , the committee continued to meet as the EKD's Brother Council . According to the ecclesiastical emergency law proclaimed by the Dahlem Synod , the Reichsbruderrat was the legitimate church leadership of the German Evangelical Church (DEK) and handed over this leadership function to the council of the EKD in 1948 .
