Reich fruit variety

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reichsobstsorte is the name given to the fruit varieties recommended in 1922 by the Deutsche Obstbau-Gesellschaft for fruit growing in the German Reich .

The selection was made on January 24, 1922 at a meeting of the German Fruit Growing Society in Eisenach . The aim of this selection was to standardize the range of varieties. Only resistant varieties that are characterized by good taste and economic suitability should be considered. The three apple varieties Bohnapfel , Jakob Lebel and Ontarioapfel as well as the three pear varieties Williams Christ , Boscs bottle pear and Delicious from Charneux were recommended for cultivation. The global economic crisis and the Second World War prevented a significant implementation in fruit growing.
