Delicious from Charneux
'Delicious from Charneux' and 'Delicious from Charneux', 'Delicious from Charneau' ( synonyms : 'Legipont', 'grass Hoffs treat', 'Fond Ante de Charneu' and in Northern Germany 'Mayor pear' ) is an old pear variety that as a chance seedling was and around 1800 in Charneux (today part of the city of Herve in the Belgian province of Liège ) on the estate of M. Legipont.
From 1828, the delicacies from Charneux were distributed by Wilhelm Walker , gardener at the Royal Württemberg Agricultural and Forestry School in Hohenheim . In the 1920s, the Delicious from Charneux was one of the three pear varieties that were chosen as imperial fruit varieties .

The fruit is medium to large (75–100 mm high) with a diameter of approx. 60 mm and pear-shaped to conical. The thin shell has a green base color that turns yellow with increasing (over) ripeness - on the side exposed to the sun, a light to dark red overcolour develops. The shell shows numerous points, which are initially surrounded by a brown-green, later reddish color. The fine flesh is white to light yellow, sweet and very juicy with a fine aroma and little acidity.
The used mostly as eating pear fruit is late September to mid-October and picked, and by November ripe enough to eat .
The fast-growing tree, suitable for all forms of training, forms (without care / training) narrow, pyramidal crowns. He calls for nutrient-rich, moist and deep locations.
