The house plum or farmer's plum is a very old, late-ripening plum variety .

description

The fruits are small, the color of the skin is blue-red to blue-black and the flesh is yellow-green to orange. The fruit has a balanced ratio of sweetness and acidity and has a distinctive plum aroma. The fruits ripen in mid to late September.

The house plum is very versatile, it can be used for consumption as well as for cooking, baking, drying and schnapps.

Disadvantages of the variety are the late onset of yield, as well as the high susceptibility to fool's pocket disease and Scharka disease . Due to its susceptibility to sharka, it can only be grown in areas that are still free from sharka.

There are different types of house plum, which are characterized by different ripening times and fruit sizes. Examples of variants are Gunser , Meschenmoser or Schüfer (sorted by maturity). The Stanzer house plum is also a variant of the house plum.
