Reid Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located in front of the east side of the entrance to Iceberg Bay on the south coast of Coronation Island .
In the maps of the Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle , which were made on the basis of surveys between 1912 and 1915, it is recorded as a group of islands under the name Reidholmen . It is named after Sørlle's eldest daughter Reidunn (1909–1988). Measurements of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey between 1948 and 1949, however, showed that it was only a single island and transferred Sørlle's name in anglicised form.
