Reijo Taipale
Reijo Toivo Taipale (born March 9, 1940 in Miehikkälä , Finland , † April 26, 2019 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish tango and pop singer .
Live and act
Taipale first worked as a truck driver and was discovered by chance as a singer. The piece Satumaa (Märchenland, composed by Unto Mononen ) brought him his breakthrough in 1962. It took second place in the 2006 best Finnish hit of all time. For many, however, it was considered “the” ultimate Finnish tango. Taipale performed until the very end and surprised in 2003 with a rock hit. In addition to his voice, his down-to-earth style, which renounces starry airs, contributed to his great popularity.
