Rein Kelpman (born April 13, 1960 in Tartu ) is an Estonian painter.

life and work

Rein Kelpman graduated from high school in Tallinn in 1979 and worked as an artist for an advertising agency until 1987. As a painter he is self-taught. He has been a member of the Estonian Art Association since 1986, the year of his first exhibition in a Tallinn gallery. Since 1987 he has been living as a freelance artist in Tallinn.

Many of Kelpman's paintings have Cubist elements, and his painting is often compared to the work of Paul Klee .

Exhibitions

Rein Kelpman has had almost 40 personal exhibitions and has participated in group exhibitions more than 20 times. Most of the exhibitions were in Estonia (Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu , Viljandi , Võru ), but his first exhibition in Germany was already in 1989 at the Köpenicker Bank in Berlin . After that, his work was exhibited several times in Helsinki (1990, 1991, 1995), where the artist temporarily lived. This was followed by presentations in Sweden (1992), repeatedly in Germany (1994, 1998), in Latvia (2000) and in 2006 also in Austria.
