Density
The true density , and skeletal density , absolute or true density referred to, the referred density of the material part of a body any physical state , ie without the volume of any voids contained taken into account:
- In the case of porous solids , the true density is determined by comminuting and grinding the material until its particles no longer contain any pores (see also tapped density ). The counterpart to the true density of porous bodies is the bulk density , which is determined by the pore volume. Gas pycnometers with helium as the test gas are used as a good approximation for determining the true density .
- In the case of heaps , the true density results from the grain analysis from weighing and extrapolation. The counterpart to the true density of heaps is the bulk density .
- The true density of liquids or gases is the density of the main substance without dissolved components , suspended matter , air bubbles or the like. Measurement takes place by letting the sample rest, sedimentation and degassing as well as precipitation reactions .
