Reiner is an impact crater on the western front of the moon in the plane of Oceanus Procellarum . It lies east of Cavalerius and southwest of Marius . The edge is sharp and hardly eroded. The interior has a central mountain . West of Reiner is Reiner Gamma , an area with a remarkably high albedo .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian astronomer and mathematician Vincentio Reinieri .
