Reiner Wegner

Reiner Wegner (born September 14, 1950 in Breinum ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 2003 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

After graduating from high school in 1969, Wegner studied law at the University of Göttingen . After completing his studies in 1973, the legal traineeship began after the end of 1976, he worked as a lawyer until 1978. He then joined the judicial service and from 1980 to 1994 he was a judge specializing in white-collar crime. From 1992 he was chairman of the criminal chamber.

Wegner joined the SPD in 1970. From 1981 he was on the city council of Bad Salzdetfurth , where he was mayor from 1998 to 2001. He was also a member of the district council in the Hildesheim district . Wegner was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1994 to 2003, to which he belonged for constituency 30 Bad Salzdetfurth.

Reiner Wegner was elected full-time district administrator of the Hildesheim district in 2006 , succeeding Ingrid Baule (2000–2006). He was elected for eight years; his term of office was extended in December 2013 to October 31, 2016 by a district council resolution. At the end of February 2014, the CDU / FDP group of the district assembly filed an emergency appeal with the Hanover Administrative Court against the extension of the term of office. Wegner remained district administrator.

His term of office ended in September 2016 after Olaf Levonen (SPD) was elected as his successor. Reiner Wegner then retired.
