Reinhard Schiffers

Reinhard Schiffers (born September 17, 1935 in Erfurt ) is a German historian and political scientist .

Schiffers received his doctorate in 1971 at the University of Mannheim and completed his habilitation in 1979 at the Faculty of Social Sciences there. He was a research assistant at the Commission for the History of Parliamentarism and the Political Parties in Bonn and an adjunct professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

Schiffer's research interests are federalism , the history of parliamentarism and political parties, political instruments and political decisions of direct democracy as well as the political systems of the Benelux countries.
