Reinhold Bergell

Reinhold Bergell (born June 28, 1841 at Gut Krampe near Lauenburg in Pomerania ; † May 26, 1912 in Groß-Lichterfelde ) was a German pianist and composer .

Bergell was born on his father's manor Krampe. His mother came from a Swedish family. Since the age of 12 he received musical training in Berlin. Here he also studied law . In addition, he acquired the reputation of an important chess player. He later took over the management of his father's estate, which he kept until 1902 , interrupted by his participation in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71 .

Bergell repeatedly went on concert tours, especially with Heinrich de Ahna (* 1832; † 1892). In addition, he turned to composition. Songs for individual voices and choirs, motets, concert pieces for various instruments, string quartets and larger orchestral pieces were created. He wrote the lyrical-romantic opera "Irngard".

Bergell was an honorary member of the Danzig Philharmonic Society.
