Reinhold Dörflinger

Reinhold Dörflinger (born March 6, 1947 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian mountain rescue service official. From 1996 to 2010 he was President of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service .

Life

Dörflinger, the son of a clerk at the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture, was employed by the State of Carinthia from 1972 until his retirement in 2007, most recently as a senior civil protection officer.

At the age of 18, he completed training as a mountain rescuer, became a member of the Klagenfurt local mountain rescue service and became president of the Austrian mountain rescue service in 1996. In November 2000 he was elected Vice President of the International Commission for Alpine Rescue Services (ICAR).

In the 2010 federal presidential election , Dörflinger was a member of a "non-partisan initiative" for the re-election of Heinz Fischer . On May 31, 2010 he was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria by Federal President Heinz Fischer .

In October 2010 he was succeeded by Franz Lindenberg as President of the Mountain Rescue Service.
