Reinhold Schmidt (publisher)

Reinhold Schmidt (* 1951 near Münster ) is a German entrepreneur and publisher.

Career

Schmidt first became deputy managing director and then managing director of a health insurance company. Later he founded several companies, including a. a health insurance company. He was the author of one of the best-selling books in German social insurance , the “Social Insurance Lexicon”. Other authors were added later, including a. T. Giehler, S. Allary, R. Bittins. The work is also a standard work in legal databases on social insurance (e.g. in KV-Lex).

With the MBO Verlag, which had around 150 employees, he also founded what was then the largest German legal database (PC legal library), which in 2000 included all 16 state laws as well as German federal law. He sold this to LexisNexis in 2002 . After he has retired from the management of his company, he says he is mainly responsible for his projects in development aid and social policy.
