Reinward

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reinward († around 1150 ) was Bishop of Meissen from 1140 to 1150 .

There are no indications of Reinward's family origin. It appears under the name Reinwald, Reinbert, Rembert, Reinhard, Reinwert or Richard . Incorrectly, it was also listed as Meinward, Meinwert, Meinhard or Menward for the period from 1046 to 1056 and as Grambert, Grambor, Grambod or Grambrecht in the period from 1118 to 1125 in old bishops .

Reinward was first provost of the cathedral in Meissen. He experienced the Second Crusade .

The length of his service as a bishop was also treated differently in previous literature. According to Fabricius, he is said to have died on July 24, 1146 and was succeeded by a Bishop Berthold. Machatschek finds no evidence of a bishop Berthold and assumes that Reinward died around 1150 and Albrecht I succeeded him.
