Remake. Frankfurter Frauen Film Tage is an event of the Asta Nielsen Kinothek that took place for the first time in 2018.

The focus is on the history of women in film and the history of feminist film festivals. In addition, there is a focus on the cinematic work of a specific filmmaker. The film program will be expanded to include lectures, events and a publication.

Remake is curated by Gaby Babić, Karola Gramann and Heide Schlüpmann .

The festival receives funding from the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media .

Remake. Frankfurt Women Film Days 2018

The first edition of Remake. Frankfurter Frauen Film Tage took place from November 2nd to 11th, 2018. The main venues were the cinema of the German Film Museum and the Unikino Pupille. More than 50 feature films and short films were shown. The main topics were "100 years of women's suffrage - 50 years of feminist film work", the films by Frankfurt filmmaker Recha Jungmann and the women's event at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1972.

In the course of the focus “100 years of women's suffrage - 50 years of feminist film work”, the Kinothek Asta Nielsen cooperated with the Frankfurt Historical Museum. The following films by Recha Jungmann have been restored and digitized in cooperation with the Deutsches Filmmuseum : Renate (FRG 1967), Two Right, Two Left, Drop One (CDN 1972), Something hurts (FRG 1979), Between Moon and Sun (FRG 1981 ), Our mothers, our fathers (FRG 1981).

Jutta Brückner gave the opening speech. Other prominent speakers were Laura Mulvey and Richard Dyer .

The publication "Zu Wort Kommen", edited by Heide Schlüpmann and Andrea Haller and with the collaboration of Karola Gramann, on the occasion of Remake 2018 contains the following chapters: The right to cinema - Female voice - We make the story of our madness - Edinburgh '72 - Recha Jungmann

The second edition of Remake. Frankfurt Women Film Days will take place in November 2019. This project unfolds in a mixture of festival and symposium. The program is a mixture of old and new films, projections, introductions, comments, discussions and the locations of events receive special attention.
