Remo Romeo

Remo Romeo (born July 24, 1934 in Genoa ) is an Italian documentary filmmaker .

Life

The son of a family from Catania moved to Syracuse and obtained a degree in medicine, in which area he also worked as a university lecturer. In this area he specialized in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

In addition, Romeo graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome with a degree in directing and worked as an actor at the dialect theater. He is president of the "Circolo del Cinema Aretuoso di Siracusa" and was the founder of the "Museo dal Cinema di Siracusa". Since 1966 he made short animated films and four years later he went into the field of documentaries, of which he made numerous works (mostly related to Sicily). In 1977 he directed two feature films for de Aurora Sicania Film that were barely distributed and are now forgotten. He has received numerous amateur awards for his films.

Romeo wrote several books on the theater and other cultural topics of Sicily.
