René Deutschmann (born November 17, 1951 in Strasbourg ) is a former French football player.
Career
René Deutschmann played for Racing Strasbourg in his youth , where he began his career in 1969. There he was a top performer for many years. He celebrated his greatest career success in 1979 when he became French champion. As a result, Deutschmann played with Racing Strasbourg in the European Champions Cup the following season .
There they made it to the quarter-finals, where they met the top Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam . In the first leg, at home in Stade de la Meinau, the favorites from Amsterdam were able to wrest a 0-0. In the second leg, in Amsterdam, the team around Frank Arnesen & Co. lost 4-0.
In 2017, Deutschmann suffered a stroke in Thailand .
