René Dugas

René François Dugas (born August 11, 1897 in Caen , † June 15, 1957 in Paris ) was a French engineer and science historian.

He studied at the École polytechnique (admitted in 1919) and at the Ecole des Mines, was a mining engineer and full-time with the French national railway company (SNCF). He also held lectures at the École polytechnique (he was there from 1942 to 1955 Maitre de Conferences) and the École des Mines (Chargé du Cours 1940 to 1944).

He dealt with the history of mechanics in his spare time and is known for two books here, published in 1950 and 1954.
